Gait Speed

Gait Speed

Gait speed measurement is NOT routinely incorporated into primary care despite its potential to inform the appropriateness of health-related options such as surgery. Lack of widespread adoption in clinical settings likely stems from the complexity of integrating assessment into the workflow. The purpose of this project is to develop a reliable, simple, and cost-effective solution to measuring gait speed in clinical and home settings.

GaitRate Wall Mount

The development for a wall mounted system for Gait Rate started around 2018, and has continued to present day. A patent for GaitRate was secured in 2023 (US11624755B2). Matthew Perry has been responsible for the development of a custom PCB for a device, moving away from the original Arduino prototypes in order to create a mass-producible design.
